So I just wan't to use the overlay map feature as well as the production tab feature. Everything that's automated I don't want any part in. I actually enjoy that stuff -- just want the knowledge that the map/production gives.

Is it possible to turn off those automated features and just stick with what I want?

yes you can turn off any feature you wish
